Oregon: Dahlia Daze

Although overcast and threatening rain, one August afternoon my daughter and I visited Swan Island Dahlia Farm in Canby, Oregon – just a short drive south of Portland.

Celebrating their 90th year, Swan Island Dahlia Farm is a family owned farm and is the nation’s largest dahlia grower.

A dazzling beauty like this is why I love flowers.

The colors of a brilliant sunset make this dahlia one of my favorites.

Pretty in pink.
The blooms with multiple colors and hues are so captivating!
This huge bloom is over 8″ wide!
We both loved this dark purple pom with it’s chartreuse center.

We were dazzled by the dahlia’s many varieties, sizes, forms, and petals blooming in the fields, but especially the marvelously rich colors.

After viewing the live plants, if you’re not too dazed and can decide on your favorites, one can place a dahlia tuber order for a spring delivery. The super-saturated colorful dahlia is an excellent choice to give a garden a colorful pop of dazzle through late summer.

The required selfie!

The rain held off until we were safely in the car and pulling out of the parking lot!

Are you dazzled by these dahlias?
